Call for a QuoteManual Transmission Rebuild at Clutchland
A manual transmission rebuild involves complete disassembly of the gearbox, inspection and measurement of every internal component, replacement of all worn parts, and precision reassembly to factory tolerances. Bearings, synchronizer rings, seals, gaskets, snap rings, and thrust washers are replaced as a standard set. Gears and shafts are inspected for pitting, chipping, and wear and replaced only if they are out of specification. At Clutchland in North Spokane, we rebuild manual transmissions to a like-new condition.
A rebuild is recommended when multiple synchronizers are worn, bearing noise is present in several gears, or the transmission has high mileage and the owner wants to restore it to full service life rather than address only the current failure. Vehicles driven hard on Spokane's hills, used for towing, or modified with higher-than-stock power output are common candidates for a full rebuild at our shop.
Our rebuild process uses precision measurement at every stage. Input and output shaft bearing journals are measured with a micrometer. Synchronizer ring-to-gear clearance is gauged with a feeler gauge. Endplay is set with the correct shim stack and verified with a dial indicator. Shift fork pads are measured for wear and shift rail detent springs are tested for proper holding force. Every dimension must meet specification before the transmission is sealed and filled with fluid.
After the rebuild is complete, the transmission is test-spun on the bench to verify smooth rotation in every gear before installation. Once installed in the vehicle, we road-test through all gears on Spokane roads, checking for noise, shift quality, and any leaks. A rebuilt transmission from Clutchland comes with a parts-and-labor warranty for your peace of mind.
